Vision and Creation, Speaking of Art— Nandalal Bose

‘An artist sees the inner nature of objects. Ordinary men see objects with listless, indolent minds; so they do not see their inner nature, only their outward shape differences. Or unaware of the relationship between these shapes and their inner nature, they get taken up with either the material shape, or abstract nature.’ -Nandalal Bose, Vision & Creation, pg 32. What is Art? If this is part of what makes an artist an Artist, then maybe, Nandalal Bose had given us a good insight on what is Art, or at least, not just aesthetical art or skillfully crafted art.
