Yes I am back=) after 7 years? So... I decided to go for full time studies, which is 6 years after graduation. Master of Arts in Research, with a focus in Colour Theory.

It had been 4 weeks since the start of school;) Over the welcome lunch reception, one of the profs commented it would be good to start writing something from Day 1. Be it a blog post, or the actual essay, just start writing something, somewhere. Thought it's a great idea;)
This blog will record some random thoughts, some images and links, and ideally some structured writing, which will help me towards the final thesis.

School term starts out fun and yes, overwhelming. Prof Walsh's module not only set a great tone on what does an art historian think, but also how to prepare ourselves and be a qualified Master or phD holder. We started off with an exercise that requires us to find 5 good publications. It can be in the form of printed books, journals, catalogues or databases. To many of us, this is the first time that we got on to the school data system and starts off with keywords searching. Ideally, we should be looking at 40 to 50 sources before we decide and rank which 5 are the best for our area of research.

My first choice is the following book:

Agoston, G. A. (1987). Color Theory and Its Application in Art and Design. [electronic resource]. Berlin, Heidelberg : Springer Berlin Heidelberg : Imprint: Springer, 1987.

I find this book important because it explains colour theory in a scientific way, but nonetheless, be able to place the focus on its application in art and design. I will purchase this book and keep it as a good colour science reference;) It talks about the various CIE Systems, Munsell Systems etc, and most importantly, it discussed about various colour perceptions, that may affect the way human eye understand colour.

Fun facts.
It is interesting how colour theory started. It seems to have some tint on the mythological and music  in the old days(newton's period is not far off from medieval, the period of gods and mythical). There are records showing why the spectrum is 7 Colours' because Seven is considered a mythical number.(" Seven is considered a mystical number

7 sacraments, 7 mortal sins, 7 heavenly spheres, 7 lively arts, 7 days of the week, and so on.) Newton especially thought colors should correspond to the seven notes of the diatonic musical sc)
